What time do the sessions take place?
Most sessions take place during the two hours before sunset, when the light is soft, warm, and especially flattering.
But if you’re a morning person, let’s talk about an early morning session! Morning sessions can be especially great time for professional headshots or a good option for families with little ones who are early risers.
What should we wear?
Choose colors that complement each other rather than match. Pieces with movement. like maxi dresses or skirts, tend to photograph beautifully, or if that’s not your style, jumpsuits or cozy sweaters are great options, too.
The goal is to wear something that feels like you, just a little more elevated than your everyday look. Add a few accessories, good looking pair of shoes/boots/sandals, or go barefoot if we’re by the water. And don’t hesitate to bring along your dog, guitar, favorite stuffy, or anything else that feels like part of your story!
A few things to avoid: I recommend skipping noticeable logos or graphics and neon colors, which can be distracting in photos.
where do you shoot?
I photograph all over Bellingham and Whatcom County, and I’m always happy to suggest a location based on the atmosphere you’re drawn to and what feels most authentic to you. We’re lucky to have so many beautiful options, from easy-access spots to more adventurous locations. And if you’re up for it, you can usually convince me to put on my trail shoes and hike to a great view!
What if the weather is not cooperating on our session day?
It wouldn’t be beautiful Bellingham without a little rain! If the weather is looking less than ideal, I’m always happy to reschedule your session. That said, sometimes a break in the clouds creates the most beautiful sunset and makes for some pretty epic photos.
I’ll touch base with you before your session to check the forecast and make sure we’re on the same page about what we’re both willing to brave.
How long does it take to get our photos?
My turnaround time is typically around two weeks, although this can vary slightly depending on the season. If you have a specific date you need your photos by, please let me know in advance. I’ll always do my best to accommodate your timeline and make sure your photos are ready when you need them.
